PLACE: Any city Cauthen is scheduled to be in for signing/speaking engagements—or cities nearby. See Events for a list of cities and dates. TIME: Ideally, this seminar meets from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. on a weekday evening. Requires a minimum of ten and a maximum of 20 participants. COST: $50 per person. ORGANIZATION: Lecture, Break, Discussion, Summation. GOALS: Participants gain perspective on the genre "memoir" and create individualized plans for books based on their individual experience. Each plan sets out and orders the specific tasks that must be accomplished in constructing a book from start to finish. TESTIMONIALS (for SOUTHERN COMFORTS): "This wonderful memoir is better than a novel. Sudye Cauthen does for Florida what no one has done before, what Faulkner and Welty did for Mississippi." - Louise Westling, author of Sacred Groves and Ravaged Gardens: "Along the North Florida byways a storycatcher roams. Sudye Cauthen returned to her native Alachua County, Florida, land of live oaks and longleaf-pine churches, searching for something unnameable. Her book is a personal history told so beautifully, layer upon layer, that even James Agee would be undone… Folkloric and spiritual, this uncommon study is a monument to a place that was." - Janisse Ray, author of Ecology of a Cracker Childhood (For a partial list of PAST CLIENTS, see Speaking & Mentoring) To discuss the possibility of a seminar tailored to your audience, please email To the Top |
